Safety & Verification
Effective Date: January 25, 2026 · Last Updated: January 27, 2026
Our Commitment to Safety
Love On Deck is designed to give you control over your dating experience. Our ViSi filtering system (Vilters and Silters) puts you in charge of who sees you and who you see. But technology alone can't guarantee safety—that requires a combination of platform features, community standards, and personal vigilance.
This page explains how we work to keep our community safe and what you can do to protect yourself.
1. Age Verification
On Deck and all of our products and services, including Love On Deck, are strictly for adults 18 and older.
How We Verify Age
During account registration, you must provide your birthdate. Our system automatically verifies that you are at least 18 years old before allowing account creation.
Current Verification Method
We currently use self-reported birthdate verification. This means:
- You must enter your birthdate during signup
- Our system checks that you are 18 or older
- Accounts cannot be created if the birthdate indicates you are under 18
Future Enhancements
We are committed to strengthening our age verification over time. Future enhancements may include:
- Government ID verification
- Third-party identity verification services
- Additional verification methods as technology improves
Reporting Underage Users
If you encounter someone you believe is under 18, report them immediately:
- Use the in-app report feature
- Select "Underage User" as the reason
- We will investigate promptly and take appropriate action
Warning: Falsifying your age to use On Deck, Love On Deck, or any of our other products or services is a violation of our Terms of Service and may result in permanent account termination.
2. Profile Verification
Current Verification
When you create your account and build your deck (profile), you provide:
- Email address (verified via confirmation link)
- Photos
- Basic information (gender, location, bio, etc.)
Photo Guidelines
To maintain authenticity:
- At least one photo must clearly show your face
- Photos must be recent and representative of your current appearance
- No stock photos, celebrity photos, or photos of other people
- No heavily filtered or AI-generated images that misrepresent your appearance
Manual Review
Our team may review profiles that are reported or flagged for potential policy violations. We reserve the right to request additional verification or remove profiles that appear inauthentic.
Future Verification Features
We plan to introduce enhanced verification options, including:
- Photo verification (selfie matching)
- Identity verification badges
- Video verification
These features may be optional but will provide benefits such as increased visibility or trust indicators on your profile.
3. The ViSi System: Safety by Design
Our unique ViSi filtering system is designed with safety in mind:
Bidirectional Filtering
Both parties must pass each other's filters before either can view the other's deck. This means:
- You only see people whose filter criteria you meet
- You only appear to people who meet your criteria
- Mutual filtering creates an automatic double opt-in process before any contact
Vilters: Control Who Sees You
Your Vilters (Visibility Filters) let you control exactly who can find you on the platform. This is especially valuable for:
- LGBTQ+ users who may want to limit visibility for safety reasons
- Anyone who wants to control their exposure to specific groups
- People who prefer a more curated dating experience
No Algorithmic Manipulation
We don't use algorithms to push certain profiles or manipulate who you see. Your filters are your filters—we don't override them to show you people outside your criteria.
4. Reporting and Blocking
How to Report
If someone violates our Community Guidelines or makes you feel unsafe:
- Go to their profile
- Tap the report icon
- Select the reason for your report
- Add any additional details
- Submit
You can also email support@ondeck.id with details about the incident.
What Happens When You Report
- Our team reviews every report
- Serious violations result in immediate account termination
- We may contact you for additional information
- We cannot always share the outcome due to privacy considerations
Blocking and Unmatching
- Unmatch: Removes the match and deletes the conversation. The other person is not notified and cannot contact you again.
- Block: Prevents someone from seeing your profile or contacting you in any way.
When you unmatch or block someone, they will not be notified. From their perspective, your profile simply disappears.
5. Data Security
We protect your information through:
- Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and sensitive data is encrypted at rest
- Access Controls: Strict limits on who can access user data internally
- Row-Level Security: Database policies that ensure users can only access their own data
- Regular Security Reviews: Ongoing assessment of our security practices
For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
6. Tips for Staying Safe
Before You Meet
- Keep conversations on the platform until you're comfortable sharing contact info
- Do your own research—a quick social media search can reveal red flags
- Video chat before meeting in person
- Trust your instincts—if something feels off, it probably is
When You Meet
- Meet in a public place for the first few dates
- Tell a friend or family member where you're going, who you're meeting, and when to expect you back
- Arrange your own transportation (don't rely on your date for a ride)
- Stay sober and alert—don't leave drinks unattended
- Have a way to leave if you feel uncomfortable
Protect Your Personal Information
- Don't share your home address, workplace address, or daily routine early on
- Be cautious about sharing financial information
- Don't send money to someone you've met online, no matter the reason they give
- Be wary of anyone who asks for money, gifts, or financial help
Watch for Red Flags
- Reluctance to meet in person or video chat
- Inconsistent stories or details that don't add up
- Pressure to move the conversation off-platform quickly
- Requests for money or financial information
- Love bombing (excessive flattery and affection very early)
- Attempts to isolate you from friends and family
7. Emergency Resources
If you are in immediate danger, call 911 (or your local emergency number).
